This site does collect statistics about your environment to help better cater the content to the site demographic.

All pages include Javascript code to communicate environmental metrics (e.g., browser type/version, operating system type/version, origin country/city, language, etc.) to Google Analytics (the free tool I use to analyze site statistics) for each visit. Note that Google Analytics does use specific information like your IP address, but only to determine your movement through this site (e.g., new visitor, landing page, etc.). If you have turned off Javascript support, then all this tracking does not apply to you.

In addition, this site's Blog RSS feed is routed through FeedBurner to capture similar metrics.
